Wrekker Kase Prisbrey: October 25th, 2013!

-Wrekker Kase Prisbrey-
After our appointment on Thursday, Kason and I went to Durangos for dinner. In the car I noticed I was having a few contractions but nothing serious. By the time dinner was over I was a very consistent 5 minutes apart. When we got home I got in the bath to try and soothe the pain. I was 3 minutes apart...literally every single time. I went downstairs and I was dressed with bags in hand. Kason said, "Whoa! This is it huh!?" as he got up to get our things. We both knew this wasn't false labor and that our sweet baby boy would be joining our family within a few hours. We arrived at Labor and Delivery and they admitted us. She said I was dilated to a 5 and she stretched me out to make things move along. Within a few minutes of being there they ordered the epidural. I was really scared to have a big needle poking me but my contractions were hurting really bad at this point. They gave me the epidural and after a while I felt like only one side was numb. I could kick one leg and not even move the other. So they adjusted the IV in my back and let us rest until it was time. We were dilating really fast and by midnight we were all the way to a 10. Both of our families had arrived and were waiting out in the waiting room. The hospital was SO busy and so they let us rest and take a nap until Wrekker was in the right position to push. The nurse had me start pushing around 4:00. Luckily, I had called my mom in a few minutes before to talk to her and so she just stayed and helped. Kason was so sweet and helpful the entire time and made me feel like everything was going to be okay. We literally pushed for maybe six contractions before she told me I had to stop and wait for the doctor. Everyone could already see his head and all of his hair. Dr. Chalmers came in and I pushed once and then we were all just talking and laughing because I literally felt amazing. I couldn't feel anything and it was the most wonderful experience. I had made everyone laugh and I was laughing so hard that Wrekker literally flew right out! We weren't even contracting. Wrekker was finally here! He weighed 7 pounds and 8 ounces was 20.5 inches long. He was born at 4:32 AM. He was beautiful! Most babies aren't very cute but he truly was so handsome and everyone could see it! He had so much hair! During the clean up process Wrekker got a small cut on his head and we can't figure out how it happened. It didn't phase him though and he was such a trooper through all of his tests. We spent two nights in the hospital and left on Saturday night. Our little family couldn't feel more complete! We are smitten over this handsome little boy and can't believe that he is ours for eternity!

Week 39

Week 39:

  • This week our handsome boy weighed 7 pounds and 7 ounces at our weekly appointment. He is growing so fast and we are ready to meet him!
  • I got a doctors note last week so I only was working half days at school. That was really nice because I got to leave every day around 11. I am so glad we did that because I was so exhausted and can barely walk at this point!
  • Thursday we had our appointment and I knew it would be the last one. I had already got my hopes up for too many appointments thinking I would be super dilated and they would just send me across the street to delivery so this week I wasn't even thinking that. I did get everything ready at home just in case though, but I told myself I wouldn't cry if it didn't happen.
  • We went to our appointment and he moved me around pretty good while he was checking me. He told us it would be soon (ya right)! We went to durangos for dinner and that is when the magic all started! I had contractions for about an hour before we were in Labor and Delivery because this was it! Wrekker Kase is on his way!!
  • Wrekker was born on Friday, October 25th, 2013 at 4:32AM.

Week 38

Week 38:

  • My contractions kept going on into Saturday, which begins our week 38. I was in so much pain all night. We called Labor and Delivery and I felt like they didn't even ask me my name or what was going on, they just asked what baby I was having and when I said number one, they told me to wait it out at home because it was just a false alarm. I was pretty upset and cried myself to sleep.
  • Saturday, we went shopping and I started having contractions every 5 minutes very consistently for an entire hour. We went home and got our things and Kason gave me the sweetest blessing, just in case this was the real thing. We went into Labor and Delivery and it only took them less than an hour to tell us we weren't going to be bringing a baby home that day. My mom and dad were already in town and so they stopped in to visit us and they could see that I was pretty sad. The nurse had made me feel so dumb and I didn't even want to be there a second more I just wanted to go home. It is so embarrassing to go in thinking you are in labor only for them to tell you that nothing is wrong.

Week 37

Week 37:

  • This week our sweet baby boy is considered full term! That means he can come join us any day now!
  • This week has been especially hard on me at work. It is hard to be nine months pregnant and still teach all day kindergarten. One day at school one of my students kept crying and I called her a cry baby... I immediately went down to the office and told them what happened and said I am leaving, get me a sub for the rest of the day! ha ha ha I guess I was in need of a break!
  • -At our weekly appointment this week he weighed a little over 5 pounds. I was dilated to a 2 and 80% effaced. I started crying when the Dr. said I was only a 2 because I am beyond ready to be done being pregnant!
  • Dr. Chalmers stripped my membranes for the first time. I was pretty nervous but it wasn't even bad. He told me that he felt like I could go into labor at any minute because he could feel how close the baby was. That whole next night and day I had horrible contractions. We stayed home and toughed it out but I really couldn't decide if it was the real thing or not!

Week 36

Week 36:
  • This week Wrekker is the size of a WATERMELON! He is growing a half of an ounce every single day! Boy oh boy sometimes I feel like I am doing the same! I am currently at 14 pounds total weight gain. I am not complaining, I still think I look pretty good. I feel like my legs and bum are pretty jiggly but I suppose that is what milk duds and Dr. Pepper can do to you!

  • Friday, my meetings at work got canceled and so they told us we could leave early! I was super excited! They had pizza for us in the lunchroom and so I went and grabbed a piece and on my way back to my room to get my stuff another teacher told me she needed my help. I followed her into her room where the lights were off, when I walked in my ENTIRE class and their sweet mom's jumped up and surprised me! They threw me a baby shower and I had no idea! It was the sweetest thing! We played a few games. One of the games they had to blow up a balloon and place it inside their shirt so they could see how hard it was to be pregnant. Then they had to take their shoes off and put them back on ha ha ha it was seriously the funniest thing I have ever seen! I went home with a car full of gifts! I couldn't help but feel so overwhelmed as I drove home at how blessed Kason and I are and how loved our sweet baby boy is already!

  • Saturday, I was in a pretty big nesting mood. I cleaned our baseboards, and mopped the tile, and cleaned all the bathrooms, I think I did 7 loads of laundry, including blankets and pillows and all sorts of things! Kason thought I was a crazy lady! I even decorated our house with all of our Fall decorations. It looks so great! I wish we would have this baby so our house could be so spotless when he came! We will see if we can keep it that way for a few weeks!

  • Kason and I have been reading scriptures and saying nightly prayers in Wrekker's room for the last little while and I can't even begin to describe the peace and love that it has brought into our home. To see my sweet husband sitting in the rocking chair teaching me the incredible amounts of knowledge he knows about the scriptures has made me so grateful for him and that he gets to be such a great example for Wrekker and our family. We feel so ready to have him join our home and we hope that we can be the strong parents that he needs. We are so grateful for the gospel in our lives and feel such a sweet spirit in our home as we prepare to meet Wrekker.

  • Monday, we were super lazy. We both came home in such a good mood though. I really can't explain how peaceful our home has been. Not that Kason and I aren't always fun and peaceful, but there is just a definite difference that we have both felt lately. We laughed and played around and then had left over spaghetti for dinner. Kason went and shot his bow and let me take a quick nap on the couch. I have been so exhausted lately. I feel so lazy at school, but I seriously have no energy!

  • Tuesday, I woke up around 1am having a few contractions. I laid there to try and get them to pass but they were pretty sharp. I got in the bath and tried to relax for a little bit. I finally fell back asleep around 4. While I was making lunches in the morning before work though, I felt them come back again. It is exciting to think that any time could be "IT" from here on out!
